Faris Kočan

Faris Kočan is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of Chair of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. He holds a PhD in European Studies with a dissertation on the securitization of Europeanisation in Republika Srpska. His research focuses on post-conflict societies, ontological security, Europeanisation, and international interventions in the Western Balkans. Kočan is the author or co-author of three monographs, sixteen journal articles, and five book chapters. He has received several awards for his scientific work, including the Ana Mayer Kansky Prize. Beyond academia, he frequently contributes expert commentary to regional and international media and has delivered several invited lectures across Europe on Western Balkans. He is fluent in English, Slovenian and BHS.
