Isabelle Ferreras

Research Director of the Belgian National Science Foundation (FNRS)

Isabelle Ferreras (born August 21, 1975) is a Belgian sociologist and political scientist. She is a professor of sociology at the Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve), a tenured researcher with the Belgian National Science Foundation (F.N.R.S.), and a Senior Research Associate in the Labor and Worklife Program at Harvard Law School.

Her research focuses on the political dimensions of firms and the democratization of work. She examines how power and governance within capitalist enterprises shape inequality and democracy, and has proposed the concept of “economic bicameralism” to give workers a stronger voice in corporate decision-making. Ferreras is also a co-founder of the global #DemocratizingWork movement, which promotes fair, democratic, and sustainable models of work and the economy.
